WCHN Awards 2024 feature

All finalists are nominated in this category, with the winner chosen by the CEO of WCHN.

WCHN's CEO is recognising overall excellence in healthcare at the Network. The award recognises projects or people who have designed and implemented innovations that demonstrate multiple benefits such as improved quality of care, increased efficiency, environmental impacts, population health outcomes and person and family centred care.

WINNER:

Ngangkita Ngartu – Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care and Midwifery

This team of Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Care Practitioners and Trainees work in partnership with our midwifery workforce to deliver culturally safe and responsive care to Aboriginal women, both in the home and at hospital, and in outreach clinics.

Highly Commended:

Forensic Services Saturday Clinic – CAMHS

The Forensic Services Saturday Clinic provides multidisciplinary mental health services to youth detained in Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre. The addition of Saturday services has improved access to culturally informed mental health support for high-risk adolescents, reducing the need for emergency department visits and enhancing triage, assessment, and treatment.

Yarrow Place – Lived Experience Training Program

The Lived Experience Training Program from Yarrow Place is designed for professionals to learn the knowledge and skills required to provide trauma informed responses to people who disclose sexual violence. The training emphasises the consumer voice by integrating their lived experience in its development and through presentations from consumers willing to share their story.

GP Liaison and Integration Unit

The GP Liaison and Integration Unit works across the Network to improve communication and flow of patients and information between hospital and community healthcare. Their focus on positively influencing culture, improving collaboration and equity is helping patients access quality care.
