The Improving Safety and Quality Award 2024

WCHN Awards 2024 feature

This award recognises outstanding achievement in research or education towards improvements in patient safety and quality of care.

It supports the priorities of the WCHN’s Safety and Quality programs and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

Acute and Statewide Services (CAMHS)

A redesign of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Acute and Statewide Services’ approach to safety assessment and planning has seen new initiatives implemented, driven by patient safety and engagement, enhancing the delivery and effectiveness of acute services across the division.

SA Health Preterm Birth Prevention Project

State-wide practice and system improvements from the SA Health Preterm Birth Prevention project have resulted in reduced rates of preterm and early-term birth and the associated ongoing effects on childhood health and development outcomes.

Suicide Prevention Strategy Education Program (CAMHS)

The Suicide Prevention Strategy Education Program helps to educate clinicians to be better equipped in assessing suicide risk and applying it in their clinical care. This was critical to the successful implementation of the Zero Suicide approach, a framework designed to enhance care and outcomes for individuals at risk of suicide in healthcare systems.
