This award recognises those who, through their translation of research into practice, have demonstrably contributed to the development of a culture of evidence-based practice and improved quality of care.

WINNER:

Dr Amit Kochar

Through his outstanding and ground-breaking work in research, education and bedside ultrasound, Dr Kochar has made a significant improvement to the quality of care for babies, children and young people not only in South Australia, but worldwide. He developed the PED Research Program, which involves 10 research projects and employs 3 research nurses. His ground-breaking work in clinician ultrasound shows us how ultrasound can be brought to the bedside, which
is convenient, patient-centred, efficient and cost effective.

Associate Professor Amy Keir

A/Prof Amy Keir is helping bridge the evidence-to-practice gap in caring for preterm babies. She successfully developed a perinatal quality improvement program as part of her NHMRC Early Career Fellowship. The program implemented key evidence-based practices that lead to improved outcomes for women experiencing preterm birth at <32 weeks gestation and their infants.

Professor Jodie Dodd

Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jodie has built a successful career as an outstanding clinician and clinical researcher, with a career total of more than $51.5 million in competitive research funding for clinical trials. Findings from her research have been incorporated into clinical practice guidelines locally, nationally and internationally and she provides advice to government and policy makers, including the World Health Organization.
